Santogold's crowds spills out of 'church' at Liverpool Sound City
Taking the stage just before midnight, the likes of 'L.E.S Artists' and 'Creator' were greeted enthusiastically by the capacity crowd, while many more fans were left stuck outside.
Flanked by two back-up dancers, the Brooklyn singer cut an unusual figure amongst the venue's backdrop of giant windows and biblical paintings, retained from its days as a church.
Santogold was earlier supported by the hotly-tipped New Zealand act Ladyhawke and The Cocknbullkid.
The set was watched by Lightspeed Champion, who had dash across the city from his own show at the Carling Academy 2 to watch Santogold.
Lightspeed Champion, aka Dev Hynes, had previously ended his performance with a violin medley of 'Star Wars' music before concluding with folk-epic 'Midnight Surprise', the climax of which saw him climbing a speaker and diving on top of his keyboard.
The headliners at that venue, Sons & Daughters, then saw the crowd diminish after Lightspeed Champion as fans rushed off and tried to cram into Santogold's show, though they played to a solid hardcore crowd.
Earlier local talent Eugene McGuiness played the Academy 2 with a full band, followed by Wild Beasts.
Liverpool Sound City continues tonight (May 29) with Pete And The Pirates, Reverend And The Makers and Hercules and Love Affair all playing.
Angelina Jolie Heals Rift With Father
The pair has been estranged since 2002, when the Hollywood veteran told a TV interview his daughter had "severe emotional problems".
She subsequently shut him out of her life and has rejected his attempts to reconcile.
But Jolie reveals she has opened up communication with the 69-year-old, as she prepares to give birth to twins.
She tells Australia's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, "We are going to try to get to know each other and maybe try not to be this daddy and daughter, but to be there for each other as friends in the coming years."
In a separate interview, Voight confirmed the pair planned to meet over the summer, saying, "I'm sure we will, yeah."
Victoria & David Beckham Bag A New A-List Pal
George Clooney is reportedly the latest A-lister to succumb to the elusive charms of David and Victoria Beckham.
The threesome apparently formed an unlikely bond at 30,000ft, while aboard Giorgio Armani's private jet en route to the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala in New York.
"George was only recently introduced to the Beckhams but they hit it off straight away," a source tells the U.K’s Daily Mirror.
"He totally digs Victoria's dry, very British sense of humour and gets her jokes, which a lot of Americans don't.
"They went out for dinner the evening before their flight but the trio really bonded on the plane, swapping gossip and doing hilarious impressions."
Posh and Becks can now count George among their collection of Hollywood power-buddies, which already includes Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria and Will Smith.
Sadly, they're still waiting for all that A-list magic to rub off...
